Marching Band Uniforms
Students are issued the pants, shirt, hat and belt (aka cummerbund) for the uniforms. They are responsible for purchasing, either through the school or on their own, marching shoes and gloves. These uniforms were purchased by the Board of Education, belong to Moran Middle School and as such are expected to be treated properly.
All shirts and pants have been washed. If you feel they need to be washed again, please wash ONLY the shirt and pants by themselves. Please do not mix the uniform with any of your personal clothes so as to avoid ruining either. THE BELT AND ROPE DO NOT GET WASHED. Please also wash the uniform before returning it to the school. Your child should have three items to return (pants, belt and shirt) after the parade. Please return them on the hanger provided.
The uniform should not "hang" on your child, nor should it be too snug. If either of these are happening please see me to exchange whichever item(s) is not fitting properly. I number of each size is limited but I will do what I can. The pants sometimes need to be "hiked up" and the waist rolled. The shirt gets tucked in and the belt will cover this area. The pleats on the belt face up and the velcro goes in the back.
The pants are meant to be hemmed; they come fixed with a permanent hem. If they need to be shortened please use a temporary hem or safety pins. DO NOT USE IRONING TAPE. See some examples below. A crisp crease ironed down the middle of each pant-leg looks great.
If the shirt sleeve is too long do not hem at the cuff. We want to maintain the blue. Instead, cinch up the elbow and place one or two stitches on the inside and outside of the arm. [See examples below] Do not use safety pins here.
